Bouwen in Portugal is een nieuwe en enerverende ervaring voor ons. Bureaucratie, taalbarrière en een andere wijze van bouwen zijn de te overwinnen drempels. Vrijheid in ontwerp en materiaalkeuze het voordeel voor de architect. De hoogteverschillen de uitdaging. De kavel is gesitueerd naast de nationale hoofdweg.

Een hoofdader van Noord-Portugal naar Porto. Het ontwerp staat op slechts 50 meter van de nationale weg. Alle bedrijfsactiviteiten zijn vanaf de weg te zien. Door het hoogteverschil ontstaat dan een gelaagdheid van activiteiten, kantoor en terminal die de dynamiek van het bedrijf uitstraalt.

De entree is de “achterdeur” van het terrein, de achtergevel het gezicht naar de voorbijgangers. De meeste terminals die we kennen zijn recht en saai. De ronde rooilijn is de inspiratiebron voor de terminal. Een waaier die over het terrein is neergestreken. Hierdoor ontstaat een beweging die zich goed verhoudt tot de bewegingen van de trucks en trailers op het terrein.

Het kantoor is afgescheiden van de activiteiten door groene zones. Door zelfs de parkeerplaatsen van gras te voorzien ontstaat er een goed contrast met het asfaltachtige werkterrein. Het horizontaal gerichte kantoor is als het ware op een sokkel geplaatst. Hierdoor ontstaat het contrast in de terreinopbouw en versterkt de relatie tussen het aluminium reflecterende kantoor en de azuurblauwe terminal. Het kantoor is verticaal gericht door de aluminium panelen. Daar waar het paneel wegvalt, laat een blauwgetinte glasplaat het licht gefilterd binnenvallen.

Het gebouw is orthogonaal ontworpen met een brede gang centraal in het gebouw. De gang wordt geaccentueerd door twee lichtbanen waardoor het lijkt alsof het plafond zweeft in de ruimte. De glazen deuren zijn in de negge geplaatst zodat de openingen helderder aanwezig zijn. Aan deze gang zijn de speciale plekken wachtruimte, entree en toiletten bepaald door extra daklichtopeningen. Wat juist in het zonnige Portugal mooie lichtlijnen oplevert.

Bright multi-cultural reflection in Portugal.

Building in Portugal is a new and exciting experience for us.Bureaucracy, language barrier and other methods of construction to overcome the barriers.Freedom in design and material benefit to the architect. The height of the challenge.

The plot is located beside the national highway, a main artery of northern Portugal to Porto. The design is just 50 meters from the national road. All operations can be seen from the road. Because of the altitude creates a layering of activities, office and terminal that the dynamics of the company exudes.

The entrance is the “backdoor” to the rear of the site facing the passers-by. Most terminals we know are right and boring. The round building line is the inspiration for the terminal. A fan site dedicated to the perched. This creates a movement which has good relationship with the movements of trucks and trailers on the site.

The office is separated from the activities by green areas. Because even the parking lots of grass to provide creates a good contrast with the asphalt-like area. The horizontally oriented firm is like on a plinth. This creates the contrast in the construction field and strengthens the relationship between the office and the aluminum reflective blue terminal. The firm is vertically by aluminum panels. While the panel falls away, shows a blue-tinted glass filtered light to invade. The building is designed with an orthogonal central wide corridor in the building. The course is accented by two light courts makes it appear that the ceiling is floating in space. The glass doors are placed in the ridges so that the openings brighter present. That way, the special waiting areas, toilets and entrance states with additional skylight openings.
