Een eenvoudige zadelkop woning moest uitgebreid worden met een leefruimte.

Een eenvoudige zadelkopwoning moest uitgebreid worden met een leefruimte. De bestaande woningen trekken zich niets aan van hun omgeving. In de kom van de beek door Winsum hebben we een uitbreiding ontworpen die zich in vorm en beleving richt op het water. De bestaande woning heeft geen relatie met de mooie T-splitsing van twee waterlopen. De woning maakt dus geen optimaal gebruik maar de mooie panorama’s en thema’s in de omgeving en op de kavel. We kunnen dan denken aan het uitbreiden in dezelfde vorm en structuur van de huidige woning. Dit zal leiden tot een samenklontering van massa’s die het leefmilieu in de directe omgeving aantast. We zullen moeten zoeken naar een eenduidige oplossing die de aanwezige kleinschaligheid niet doorbreekt.

Er is gekozen om een nieuwe derde gevel te introduceren als entree vanaf het water die de vorm van de situatie versterkt. Door de uitbreiding visueel los te leggen van de bestaande bebouwing wordt de aanwezige schaal erkent en kan een afsluiting gemaakt worden naar de derde richting in de situatie. Een goede materialisering van de volumes is essentieel voor de goede verhoudingen van de massa’s op de kavel en haar omgeving. Daarom is gekozen voor een heldere lichte en transparante structuur. Het is een horizontale accentuering waarin de omgeving reflecteert. Hierop wordt de bovenbouw geformeerd met een raam als accent. De uitkijkpost aan het water. Het balkon wat door de uitsparing ontstaat geeft beslotenheid naar binnen maar openheid naar buiten. Hierdoor wordt de privacy gespaard terwijl de slaapkamer baad in het licht.

De geleding in het gebouw geeft openheid in de situatie en respecteert de aanwezige bebouwing. Dit leidt tot een gebouw dat zich ondanks zijn volume manifesteert als een kleinschalige gebouw dat de concurrentie met de woning niet aangaat maar deze aanvult.
